I'll drag mine outta the closet soon too, I might be a 'tad' farther ahead, but still got lots of work to do! No doubt there, wings, are together, tail section is complete, now I just need the "front bit" to come together and we'll be sticking her together!

Most difficult part of the entire build is where the heck do you store this thing once coplete! It's HUGENATIC!

Cheers
Harald.

Hi John:

As you say, the Tasca kit you want is 35017, the Sherman III Driect Vision with early VVSS suspension.  Holy Roller has the trailing return roller arms as well as direct vision.  I'm not sure if there is an equivalent Dragon kit.  The only direct vision Sherman III I see is the Cyber Hobby kit which has the M3 Lee-type VVSS, which is incorrect for Holy Roller.  However, that can be replaced easily enough with other Sherman suspension.

Cheers,

Scott

Hi Folks:

Holy Roller is an M4A2 Direct Vision (DV) Sherman III.  It's got the direct vision slots in front of the driver's hoods, much like the recent M4A1/Sherman II desert kits that Tasca and Dragon have recently released.  The M4A2 (Sherman III) has a different engine deck and hull rear than other Sherman variants.  Since Dragon would only need to do a new upper hull to go with their other Sherman III kits (and because somebody has provided them with a pile of photos of Holy Roller),  I'd like to hope that Dragon will do a Sherman like Holy Roller.  The early Sherman IIIs saw service throughout the war with Commonwealth countries, right from el Alamein on.

Cheers,

Scott

Well the release of the Tasca kit:
http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&a mp;req=showcontent&id=5094

triggered my memory on this thread!

I belive either the following kits would suffice for the Holy Roller:

DML's M4A2 kit #6062:
http://store.spruebrothers.com/135-dragon-m4a2-sherman-tarawa-6062-p9327.aspx

or Tasca kit# 35017:
http://store.spruebrothers.com/135-tasca-british-sherman-iii-direct-vision-w-ear ly-vvss-35017-p19983.aspx

The DML being substantially less expensive, is the one I'm leaning toward.
Any modifications required other then track and welded armour plates?

Well, little progress on my part.
I did a kit reorganization back in July (I think) & only managed to paint the resin engines since then.

Hmm.... 5 months till the show.... undecided

Hi John:

The playing cards are for processing the models for judging.  Basically, the models are entered, they go to a holding area before getting judged, they get judged, and then they get put on the public display tables.  The cards help the runners to make sure that models which are entered earlier get judged earlier, and hence out on the display tables before models that were entered later.

It was a really great show, by the way - possibly my favourite that I have been to.  Local modellers did pretty well, too!

Cheers,

Scott
